About me
Can CHEN (陈灿) is now a Post-doctoral scientist of the LUTS laboratory at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL-LUTS). He recently obtained his PhD degree from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), co-supervised by Dr. Shu-Chien Hsu and Prof. Agachai Sumalee. Prior to his PhD, he received both his B.S. degree in Transport Engineering and M.S. degree in Traffic Engineering Information & Control from Sun Yat-Sen University, in 2014 and 2017, respectively, supervised by Prof. Renxin Zhong. He was an Exchange PhD student of EPFL-LUTS in 2022, supervised by Prof. Nikolas Geroliminis. Can’s main research interests include
- traffic control and management strategies
- machine learning and reinforcement learning
- optimal and nonlinear control theory with applications in transportation engineering
- control of connected and autonomous vehicles
- urban airspace mobility operation
