About me
Can CHEN (陈灿) is now a Post-doctoral scientist of the LUTS laboratory at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL-LUTS). His current research is a part of “Mobility” in the National Centre of Competence in Research “Towards dependable, ubiquitous automation by research, innovation and education” (NCCR automation), funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). He obtained his PhD degree from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), co-supervised by Dr. Shu-Chien Hsu and Prof. Agachai Sumalee. Prior to his PhD, he received both his B.E. degree in Transport Engineering and M.S. degree in Traffic Information Engineering & Control from Sun Yat-Sen University, in 2014 and 2017, respectively, supervised by Prof. Renxin Zhong. He was an Exchange PhD student of EPFL-LUTS in 2022, supervised by Prof. Nikolas Geroliminis. Can’s main research interests include
- traffic control and management strategies
- machine learning and reinforcement learning
- optimal and nonlinear control theory with applications in transportation engineering
- control of connected and autonomous vehicles
- urban airspace mobility operation
